Church Council

The LCI Church Council provides leadership for matters of church policy and finances. The Council consists of nine LCI members, elected by the congregation to staggered three year terms, plus the Pastor. The Council generally meets monthly on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Meetings are held in the LCI library from 6:30-8:30 PM and are open; i.e, all LCI members and friends are welcome to attend.

Mark and his wife are fairly recent Bay Area transplants to Davis. He has been a member of various Protestant denominations over the years and is relatively new to Lutheranism. He enjoys serving in LCI's choir and on the prayer writing and prayer ministry teams. He works as an applied physics researcher based in Berkeley, though he mostly works from Davis. In his free time he enjoys jogging, reading, and spending time with their cats and chickens.

Karen and her family have been members at LCI since moving to Davis in 2007.  She and her husband Tom have two adult children, Tommy and Catherine.  Karen is a school psychologist in the Davis school system, and has enjoyed working with children from ages preschool through high school.  Since joining LCI, she has been active in the Worship and Music Committee, the Sanctuary Renovation Task Force,  and with singing in the choir.  She is also a board member of The Belfry, the Lutheran-Episcopal campus ministry at UC Davis.  Spare time fun for Karen includes singing with the Davis Chorale and camping trips with Tom.

A Sacramento native, raised in the Lutheran Church, I have been involved in worship music since joining in 2005. My other passions are fishing and bicycling. I also enjoy serving on the church council.

Hi, I’m Joey Amrhien. A fifth generation Californian, I grew up in Carmel, CA. I
attended Mills College in Oakland, following a legacy set by both my mother and
grandmother. My husband and I lived for 27 years in Aromas, CA where I was an
accountant with the County of Santa Cruz. We were members of Christ Lutheran
Church in Aptos where I served on Council for several terms.
I have two daughters, Jeanette and Elizabeth, each with two children. When my oldest, Jeannie, moved to Colorado I decided to move to Woodland to be nearer to Liz. I also purchased a second home near Jeannie in Colorado and for 10 years split my time between the two. This proved to be demanding on a physical, mental, and financial
level, and two years ago I sold my Colorado home and settled permanently in CA.
I am a member of the West Valley Barbershop Chorus, The Musical Arts Performance
Company, and The Vaca Valley Ramblers Square-dance Club. I am proud to serve on the church Council here at Lutheran Church of the Incarnation where I have been a member since 2014.

Christine Bruhn has been a member of LCI since she and her husband John were married at LCI in 1970 by Pastor Wetzel. Both their daughter Laura and son Aron were active in LCI as youth. Christine and John supported the youth ministry and Highway 113 cleanup team.  Now a widow and retired from the UC Davis Department of Food Science and Technology, Christine is active in the quilting ministry, the bell choir, and the LCI Book Club. She is passionate about environmental stewardship, social justice, and helping those in need.

Carey has recently moved to Sacramento after living outside of Woodland for 35 years. He attended  St. Paul's and served 25 years as an church elder. He enjoys traveling, with the goal of 8 to 10 vacations a year.

I've been a member of LCI for 30 years. My passions are youth ministry and social justice. I enjoy the outdoors, movies and cycling.
