"The Incarnates" is the name of our youth group at LCI.  Every Sunday evening we meet for fellowship, fun, and to learn a little about God.  It is a great place to make a few new friends and hang out with old friends.  Everyone is welcome regardless of their church background or personal beliefs.

We believe that God calls us out to live our lives in community.  This means we learn together, share in each others life experiences, and grow as followers of God together.  It means we share laughs and tears, good times and bad times.

These Sunday meetings are just a small part of this call to live in community.  We would love for you to join us.  We will generally hang out, play some outrageously fun games, and learn a little about God.

Kirsten graduated from California Lutheran University where she majored in religion because someone told her to major in what she loved the best.  Originally she had no personal aspirations for youth ministry, simply because she had kept her own youth pastor on such a high pedestal.

Well the way to make God laugh is to tell God your own plans, and when she felt the call, it was undeniable and a blessing.  Kirsten served over four years at Trinity Lutheran Church in Santa Barbara, during which time she became certified as a Youth Minister through Wartburg Seminary and is recognized as such by Region 2.

Eventually she and her husband Matthew found themselves drawn home to the Sacramento area.  Matt was able to transfer to the ITT Technical Institute in Rancho Cordova where he recruits students, and Kirsten worked at St. John’s Lutheran Church for just under 2 years before moving on to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and School in South Sacramento, and finally landing at LCI this past spring.

The following prayer was created by the youth of LCI. They sought to capture the essence of the "Lord's Prayer" in words that speak to youth in our place and time.

This past November a group of Jr. Highers from LCI and DLC went to Mt. Cross for the ELCA Synod Middle School Youth Gathering.  The theme was God's Gym: Exercise your Faith!

There were over 100 middle schoolers from Northern California.  While we were there, we worshiped, had campfires, played games, had an 80’s dance, and at the end of the weekend, we went to the mountains to worship at the beach.  We also stayed in cabins.  We bunked with people from Citrus Heights.  And there were camp games, including a banana relay.

We learned from the speaker that there are many ways to exercise your faith.  We met a lot of new people, and ate a lot of food!  We also prayed a lot, and stayed up very late!

Thank you for your prayers and support while we were on this trip!  And a special thank you to Kris Hunt for helping to chaperone and make this trip possible.

Above all else, we hope to create a quality youth ministry program that consists of a safe and nurturing environment for your children.  This web page is also meant to be used by parents to see just what their children are doing at youth group events.

In order for your child to participate in any sort of overnight event or camp, you or a guardian must sign a liability waiver and form of consent.  Below are the links to download all forms.  Occasionally, there will be other forms posted with more information for students and parents alike (for example, camping lists or schedules of events).

Photo Policy:

LCI will not post any photos of your child on this website until we are given legal permission by you.  We want the youth at LCI to be able to view and download photos from youth group events, and therefore require that all parents must sign a Photo Release Waiver.  Please download from below and return to the church office:
