Sunday Worship & Holy Communion: Christian Education for all ages: |
Worship Committee |
|
The Worship Committee provides leadership, while its various subcommittees coordinate to provide worship services where the gospel is proclaimed and people can grow in faith together. Subcommittees have been formed to take care of planning liturgies, selecting music, and for coordinating the visual liturgical arts within the worship space and on the church grounds. We are actively seeking members who would like to develop their understanding of the Lutheran worship service or to serve in various capacities during worship services. The worship committee and its various subcommittees are open to all LCI members who wish to contribute toward the worship life of our congregation. If you desire to contribute in this fashion you will be welcomed! If you have any questions or wish to participate, please email interim chair, Beth Parks at eaparks@ucdavis.edu.
Liturgical Planning. The Liturgical Planners are responsible for planning the worship services for the Church Year. Our statement of purpose is: to support the mission of LCI by working together to create meaningful Word and Sacrament experiences for our congregation to meet God. The chair of this vibrant group is LCI's Minister of Worship and Music, Georga Allen. Prayer Ministry. Prayer Ministry - Join us as we share prayer at communion time; as we make ourselves available to those who worship with us. "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them." (Matthew 18:20)

The Chancel Choir at LCI, directed by Tony Lien, provides the vast majority of the special music during worship, and sings alternately at both the 8:30 and 10:30 am services. We are in the midst of a fantastic year of music once again. Singing in the Chancel Choir is a fun and meaningful way of sharing your musical gifts. Between Labor Day and Memorial Day we rehearse on Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:15 pm in the Sanctuary. During the summer we operate on a no-commitment basis, calling ourselves the "Instant Choir," and rehearse at 9:30 am every Sunday morning to prepare a song to sing during the 10:30 service that same day. Anyone is welcome and encouraged to join us. Take ake us out for a "test drive" if you'd like. There are never any auditions, and no experience is required. All that is needed is a desire to sing. If you are interested in joining us or have any questions, you may reach me (Tony Lien) at choir@lcidavis.org, or simply show up for one of our rehearsals. |
