Ellen Kolarik, President Paul (my husband), Sarah (our daughter) and I have lived in Davis and been members of LCI for 10 years. I'm a doc with Kaiser, an almost-empty-nester, and a council member. I love funky earrings, hiking and LCI's annual Mexico trip. If you are reading this, you should consider joining our building team. This annual event is a wonderful week of giving, learning, and community. You can reach me at pesko@sbcglobal.net.
Roslyn Schlenker, Vice President I grew up in Carmichael and am a graduate of Del Campo high school. After high school, I attended San Francisco Academy of Arts, receiving a BSA in Interior Design. My work life has included working in commercial architecture and design at LPA Architects and multiple positions including quality improvement director at United Corporation Furnishings. I then turned to real estate and after extensive training have built a successful real estate appraisal business.
My husband Jerry and I joined LCI in 1996 and have two lovely daughters, Danielle and Nicole. I have a keen interest in seeing the growth of our congregation, and especially in welcoming young new families. My involvement in Sunday School and coordinating the worship acolytes reflects my broader interest in the further development of strong children and youth programs at LCI. I also support green church opportunities as we move to the future, believing that it sends a positive message to the community. If you have any questions, you may contact me at geraldschlenker@yahoo.com.
Matt Moore, Secretary I grew up and graduated from high school in Lodi. I also graduated from Cal Lutheran with a degree in Physical Education (Kinesiology). At that point I believed my calling was to a life teaching and coaching but instead it led to ITT Tech. I am their education sales representative to high school graduates and to adults considering career opportunities in any of 15 degree areas. I love my community outreach role at ITT.
Kirsten (whom we all know as LCI Youth Leader) and I joined LCI in 2010 and now have two lovely daughters, Mikayla and Gabriella. We previously attended Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Sacramento. As a member of Council I hope to be a voice for expanding our community and facilitating the process of attracting new members to LCI. One of my hobbies is that I love to cook, so don't be surprised to find me happily engaged in hospitality events. If you would like to speak with me, please contact me at mattmoore08@yahoo.com.
Debbie Kennedy, Treasurer I grew up in Davis, graduating from Davis High School and have been a member of LCI since 1974. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in SF & LA, I worked in women’s fashions in Southern California before returning to Davis where I worked many years in her father’s shoe store. Later I opened Canterbury Lanes and then worked at County Fair Mall in a variety of positions ending up as the Mall Property Manager. I am currently employed at the Davis Enterprise.
My passion at LCI runs deep having been active in Education, Sunday School, Youth Group, Council, Council President and I am currently the LCI Treasurer. On Council I am a voice for improving the financial condition of LCI and for efforts to enhance success in attracting new families to our spiritual journey. If you are interested in joining LCI or need more information, please contact me at ptkdkk@dishmail.net.
Ed Green Hi, my name is Ed Green, husband, father, grandfather and the retired VP of Research at Seminis. Bet you didn’t know that about 30% of all veggies you eat were developed at this company! I love photography, woodworking and my lovely wife Bonnie, all of which reflect God’s blessings in my life. I have been a member of LCI for 20 years and served on the Building Committee, Council and as President of the congregation. I smile when I think about the time and energy that LCI members and leaders commit to each other and to our collective service to the wider community of Davis and beyond. You can reach me at liebershouse@aol.com.
Beth Tanke My husband Tony and I have been members of LCI for five years. For the last four of those years I have served on church council and LCI's personnel committee. I love reading, cats, summer, and connecting with new people in small groups. Some of the things that make me smile at LCI are children participating in worship, picnics on LCI grounds with food, music, and visitors, and service activities that connect us with the larger community such as the Winter Shelter and our annual service trip to Mexico. My hope for LCI is that we continue to nurture existing programs and create new opportunities for members and visitors to feel welcome and accepted. You can reach me at beth@tankelaw.com.
Shannon Ramsay I was born and raised in the lovely Santa Cruz Mountains just 20 miles or so outside Los Gatos, California. They say that you can get from my parents' house down to Los Gatos by way of Highway 17 in eight minutes, but I think this may only be true at 3:00 am. I am the youngest of four children. I have one older brother, an older half-sister, and an older half-brother. All of my family members live in the South Bay.
I was born with a vision impairment which includes a condition called cone dystrophy. Believe it or not, I have never been able to perceive color properly. I lost the little bit of residual vision which I had by the time I started sixth grade, and I had to transition to reading Braille, traveling with a cane, and using speech-output devices. I was always fully mainstreamed in public schools, and I graduated from Los Gatos High School in 1998.
In 2002, I received my bachelor's degree in political science from Stanford University. While I was at Stanford, I studied abroad in Germany and participated in a program called Stanford in Washington. I have always been very interested in the legislative process and in following politics and current events. I worked in the office of Senator Tom Harkin as the disability rights intern as part of the Stanford in Washington program. Senator Harkin is one of the authors of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and he remains very active in promoting equal access for people with disabilities in all areas of life.
After graduating from Stanford, I spent a summer working at the State Department in the Office of Civil Rights. It was a very interesting time to be there since 9-11 had happened just about seven months earlier. I remember we had at least a few fire scares during that summer and security was extra tight everywhere.
I moved to Davis to begin law school at U.C. Davis in August 2002. While I was a law student, I focused on taking courses in employment law and civil rights matters. I was instrumental in creating a law student group for disability issues and for bringing a disability law seminar back to the law school. During law school, I worked for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Sacramento and a nonprofit called Equal Rights Advocates in San Francisco. I graduated from law school in May 2005 and passed the California bar in 2008.
In between graduating from law school and passing the bar, I worked for the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing and the Department of Rehabilitation Office of Legal Affairs. More recently, I have worked for Disability Rights California where I served clients experiencing problems with their In-Home Supportive Services benefits and individuals facing a wide range of disability-related discrimination. Since January 2011, I have worked as an advocate for California Foundation for Independent Living Centers with an emphasis on helping people with disabilities gain access to assistive technology.
I believe strongly in serving my community and sharing my talents with others. I have volunteered at local convalescent hospitals through Citizens Who Care and I have been a friendship host for the International House. I also spent a year staffing the crisis hotline at the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Center for Yolo County.
In April 2007, I came to a service at LCI for the first time. I have been part of this congregation ever since. I really enjoy participating in the book club and singing in the choir. I also enjoy listening to and playing music. I play piano and I enjoy dancing. I like to read, go for long walks, attend concerts and plays, learn about other cultures and languages, and spend time with family and friends.

Lori Martin I’ve been a member of LCI since 1970. I moved to Davis when my father decided to go back to UCD
and finish his Degree in Plant Science. I graduated from Davis High School and later attended
Sacramento State where I earned my bachelor's degree in Business Administration. I also have two
children Dan and Malee. Both are pursuing their college degrees as well.
I have been a member on Church Council a couple of times before this. The first time was when I was
in College when we called Pastor Moren to LCI. The second time was when Pastor Wong was here.
My leadership experience has been both as a member of this Congregation and also in my career.
I have served on the LCI Financial Committee. I was the chair for the Multi-Cultural Task Group in
response to the "Discerning Directions" process LCI went thru a few years ago. I served as the Church
Council Vice-President the last time I was on Council as well. I chaired the Architect Selection
committee and I also organized last year's women's fall retreat.
I am presently the Project Manager for a process improvement Task Team at Caltrans where I work. I
have also facilitated the strategic planning and operational planning processes for two divisions at
Caltrans.
I am excited about the possibility of serving on LCI's Church Council because I see so much
opportunity and challenge ahead of us. I believe we are called to set time aside daily to pray and listen
to God. I believe that we are God's beloved children and have been given a wonderful gift to share
with our Community and the World, often one person at a time. I also believe that all people are God's
beloved children and have been given gifts to share with the world each in their own special way. I
look forward to continue serving with all of you in the many ways God calls us to be with our family,
neighbors and the larger world community. You may reach me at ljmartin55@att.net.
